‘QWinFF’ is an extremely easy to use, ‘ffmpeg’ based multimedia converter for GNU/Linux & Windows. I have been checking it out from time to time & with each release, it gets better and better.
With ‘QWinFF’ you can convert a huge number of input formats (anything that ‘ffmpeg’ supports!) into a large array of others (MP4, MKV, WMV, AC3, FLV, OGG, WEBM, AVI …) and it also supports resizing, cropping, bitrate adjustments, volume gaining, audio channel changing, cutting and many more.
The latest version is 0.2.0 (released on February 9, 2014), & now ‘QWinFF’ comes with a dedicated video cutting window that has live previews, including few more changes as well.
So without any further delay, if you want to try it on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, 13.10, 13.04, 12.04 LTS & 10.04 LTS, open your Terminal and enter the below commands.
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:lzh9102/qwinff
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install qwinff
That should do it. Please visit this page for instructions on how to install it on other distributions (Fedora, Linux Mint, openSUSE …) and MS Windows.
Hi! Do you think it would be possible to install this in the recently released chinese distro, Deepin? It’s based on Ubuntu 14.04 and Debian but I have encountered some difficulties with packages that I used to use when in Mint and Ubuntu. Thanks in advance.
Hi Juanhellou,
I cannot see why it shouldn’t work in Deepin although I haven’t test it in Deepin.
Cannot add PPA: ‘ppa:jon-severinsson/ffmpeg’.
Please check that the PPA name or format is correct.
doesn’t seem to work on 14.04 LTS!
Hi,
Have you tried the PPA mentioned on QWinFF official page:

I have updated the post, but can’t confirm if it’ll work on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS though (I don’t have it installed).
