Cinnamon desktop comes with a few built in ‘Applets’ that add various features. Some are enabled by default and some are disabled, such as the ‘Recent documents’ applet, that I wanted talk about.
Now of course, you can use the ‘Start Menu’ in Cinnamon for quickly accessing your most recent files as well. But I prefer the above mentioned ‘Recent documents’ applet over that.
I’m pretty sure most users know about it, but if you are someone who is new to Cinnamon, then I thought perhaps it is better to ‘tip’ it :).
How to enable it?
As said above, this applet comes installed by default. So all we have to do is to simply enable it. For that, please follow the below steps.
Right click on the ‘window list’ area of the Taskbar and from the menu select ‘Add applets to the panel’ as shown below.
From the next window, search for the below term (or you can scroll down and find it too).
Then select it and put a cross-mark in front to enable it.
As soon as you do that, you should see it appearing near the system tray area, as shown in the first screenshot. That’s it.
