Have you ever had one of those nerdy needs such as to convert a fully colored picture into a black & white mode but still retaining some portions in their original coloring? (also known as “color popping”).
All the popular photo editing programs such as Adobe suits, GIMP etc have this feature build into them but to achieve something that simple why the heck we wanna use a tool that complicated, right?.
Then Tintii is a pretty decent color popping tool that you can use. The GNU/Linux version is totally free but the other versions come with a 21 day trial (supports Windows and Mac OS X too).
*. Extremely simple UI and loads fast.
*. Manually adjust the color detection by changing Red, Green, Blue mixing.
*. Easily add different coloring (including additional settings such as Saturn threshold, Pixel selection and Repetitions).
*. Add post processing effects with Hue and Sat decay.
That’s about it for the features. You can install Tintii color popping tool in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot, 11.04 Natty Narwhal, 10.10 and 10.04 by simply using the below command in your Terminal.
sudo apt-get install tintii
Remember if you have an old PC then when you make some changes (adding color detecting methods etc) it’ll take few seconds to apply. So just be patient. Good luck.
