The term “Tag Editing” actually refers to editing of a certain type of “meta-data” content inside of a multimedia container. This “meta data” is what holds information such as the “Artist Name, Year, Genre etc” and is used by the file manager to display these details when we move our mouse over these files and multimedia players also use these data.
But sometimes, the files that you receive may not include the correct or original “meta-data” or may be missing some of them. Most multimedia players (specially the audio players) do let you edit this tag information with ease but if you have a huge list of files that requires “mass editing”, then you’ll need a dedicated utility.
So if you’re looking for an open-source, completely free, cross-platform audio tag editor that can be used in both MS Windows and GNU/Linux (including Ubuntu), then EasyTAG is certainly one of the best ones out there that you should try.
